Update on Fisher's brother

Hi everyone. I just wanted to put an update out there so anyone who doesn't know what's going on can find out here or if you want more information.
We've had a couple of long weeks, starting out finding out that I had a placental abruption/seperation a couple days after we got home from Denver. While at the hospital for that, contractions started and got to about 3 mins apart before being put on meds to get them under control. Everything else looked good though so after staying overnight I was sent home and eventually sent back to work with modified best rest for the remainder of my days.

Then on this Sunday/Monday I woke up about 12:45 am with contractions that kept coming so finally after about an hour and ten contractions I called the doctor and they sent me into the hospital. They immediately put me on the meds again which helped right away but I had to stay for evaluation. My doctor came the next morning and informed me that I only got two strikes and that I was now on full bedrest and to send in my paperwork (she doesn't mess around!). We waited all day for an ultrasound and finally got one at 6:00 pm on Monday.

At the ultrasound the placental abruption looked about the same as it had a week and a half ago but my cervix had shortened from about 39 mm to 19 mm in that time. They put in a contraption to help get the weight of the uterus off of the cervix and will have me follow up with another ultrasound in two weeks and weekly non stress tests. I also got steroid shots to help the baby's lunges and brain develop.

What this really all means is that this baby is probably coming sooner than we had planned but that according to my doctor each day is a victory. The specialist said that it would be good to get to 30 weeks (which is today!), better to get to 32 weeks, and great to get to 34 weeks. He said 34 weeks would practically be full term for us now. They were all very optimistic.

Thanks for all the support that everyone has given us so far! We really appreciate it and couldn't ask for better friends and family. Chris has done an amazing of picking up the slack and I am learning to just let him do things his way :) Fisher is learning that he's going to have to wait a little longer for Chris to do things for him, he doesn't quite jump at his every request like I do, which is a good thing to learn now!

We feel really lucky that we've had amazing pre natal care so far and are just trying to stay positive about all of the obstacles that are being thrown our way. We are looking forward to the arrival of another crazy, handsome baby boy to join our family but for once in my life I am happy to wait a little longer for something I want this bad!
